Purpose of the Role:

The Payroll & Benefits Supervisor is responsible for the complete administration of all Company benefits, and supervises Payroll administrators, ensuring accurate & on time delivery of multiple payrolls, including reconciliation of payroll accounts in order to ensure accurate and timely payment of staff and third parties. Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the payroll team, including the outsourced back office processing staff, to ensure accurate and timely delivery of payrolls.
  • Supervise day to day payroll activities by planning & organising weekly and monthly payrolls to ensure accurate payment to employees and all third parties
  • Manage payroll processing costs within budget.
  • Ensure that all payroll processes and practices, including the payroll software system, meet related regulatory and statutory requirement
  • Conduct Weekly and monthly payroll Audits
  • Ensure the integrity of the payroll data.
  • Monthly reconciliation of payroll and third-party accounts to ensure accurate payments
  • Reconciliation of payroll accounts to general ledger
  • Ensure submission to all appropriate departments are submitted on time to meet statutory and legal obligations of the company i.e. COID, Stats SA, UIF, SARS, etc.
  • Payroll administration to ensure that we meet and build relationships
  • Provide guidance to and shares knowledge with colleagues/team members relating to own specialization
  • Implement quality control measures
  • Reconcile the employee benefit deductions to supplier billing, and ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time.
  • Manage all benefit claims and withdrawals.
  • Manage broker and suppliers according to Service Level Agreement.
  • Build and maintain sound relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Payroll related Tertiary qualification
  • 8 - 10 years of payroll experience, of which 3 years at a supervisory level
  • 3-5 years benefits administration experience, i.e. Provident Fund,
  • Medical Aid, Group Life.
  • Psiber Payroll experience advantageous
